About WellChild
Welcome to the WellChild / Tamariki Ora Week Web site.
WellChild / Tamariki Ora is about babies, infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers under 5 years old and keeping them well, growing and developing to their fullest potential.
The site is here to assist WellChild / Tamariki Ora Health providers to work together with families to provide the best support, health promotion and prevention for all New Zealand Children under 5.
The information can also be useful to parents, caregivers and whanau alike to help ensure that their Tamariki get the very best services available and all the appropriate free checks and advice.
The site supports the Well Child / Tamariki programme and schedule of Well Child / Tamariki Ora checks outlined in the Well Child / Tamariki Ora Health Book. This programme helps care- givers, parents and whanau keep child well and safe by, giving parents/whanau:

- information
- advice and
- FREE WellChild checks including dental, hearing checks and
- FREE immunisation
The site also supports the WellChild / Tamariki Ora health promotion week, which happens each year in May to help increase awareness of Well Child / Tamariki Ora issues.
The promotion is achieved though a National Coordinator and Steering Committee and local group activities. Coordination and national activities are funded through the Ministry of Health and administrated through the University of Auckland Uniservices Ltd.

The site will list current and past events, information, a coordinators newsletter, lists of relevant resources, and information about mini grants for local groups as well as links to other related sites to assist local groups in their WellChild /Tamariki Ora activities.
